Miradas: A Contemporary Art Exhibition in Nosara at GONA Gallery

On March 21, GONA – Gallery of Nosara Art presents Miradas, a new exhibition bringing together the work of Maxime Viellard and Ángel Lara Vargas.

Through painting and sculpture, the exhibition explores two complementary ways of seeing the world: one looking inward at human emotion, the other outward toward nature and the environment that surrounds us.

Located in the heart of Nosara, where art and nature coexist in powerful ways, GONA continues its mission of showcasing artists whose work resonates with the spirit of this unique place.

About the Exhibition: Miradas

Miradas (Gazes) is born from the desire to better understand what surrounds us and what we feel within.

In the work of Maxime Viellard, the gaze turns inward. His figures speak through the body and the eyes. In every gesture there is emotion: vulnerability, desire, strength, doubt. They are intimate moments, as if suspended in time. When you look at them, the works are looking back at you.

For Ángel Lara, the gaze is directed toward the environment. His sculptures are inspired by the fauna and flora of Nosara: the place he identifies with, his home. Each piece reflects the life, the energy, and the natural beauty of this land. His work is born from love and a deep connection to the territory.

These two ways of seeing meet and complement one another:
one turns inward, the other outward.
One explores human emotion; the other celebrates the nature that surrounds us.

Miradas is an invitation to observe more closely: our inner world, our environment, and the profound relationship that exists between them.

The Artists

Ángel Lara Vargas is a Costa Rican sculptor with more than two decades of artistic practice. Known for working with materials such as marble, granite, bronze, and steel, his work transforms matter into symbolic forms that explore memory, structure, and movement. For Miradas, Lara draws inspiration from marine life and the organic energy of the ocean, reflecting his deep connection with the natural environment of Nosara.

Maxime Viellard is a visual artist whose work explores emotion and human expression through painting and sculpture. After studying visual arts at Veritas University, he developed a distinctive artistic path that moved from abstraction to realism. Deeply involved in the cultural life of Nosara, Viellard also promotes artistic collaboration and community initiatives that support creativity in the region.
