Angel Lara

Ángel Manuel Lara Vargas is a Costa Rican sculptor and painter, born on March 6, 1984. His artistic formation reflects a rich, multidisciplinary foundation that blends photography, painting, and sculpture.

Lara began his studies in Photography at the C.U.N.A. in Alajuela (2003–2004), and later pursued a Bachelor’s Degree in Plastic Arts with an emphasis in Sculpture at the University of Costa Rica (2002–2003). His journey began even earlier, with a Baccalaureate in Plastic Arts with an emphasis in Painting from the prestigious Conservatorio de Castella in Heredia (2001), where he was recognized with the degree of VAU 2.

With a deep sensitivity to form, matter, and meaning, Ángel Lara’s work navigates between disciplines, merging technical mastery with conceptual depth. His creations often explore identity, cultural memory, and symbolic resonance through tactile materials and carefully constructed forms.
